La-Z-Boy’s Latest Makes Relaxing a High-Tech Pursuit

The long-reigning king (since 1927) of all things living room and comfortable, La-Z-Boy has taken things to the next level with the PowerReclineXR, its newest rocker recliner. So long to the days of the wooden rocking chair and a cushion: La-Z-Boy has outfitted the new addition to its line with all the high-tech bells and whistles to make your television watching more idyllic (and idling) than ever before.

The PowerReclineXR, which starts at $1,199 in leather and $749 in fabric, features two motors, one to control the back, the other the leg rest. Just about everything can be adjusted by a remote control. My personal favorite feature is the backup battery system, there so that in case of a power failure, the recliner lifts you back to an upright position. (This is actually a good idea for elderly users.) If you’re living off the grid and the backup runs out, there’s also the good old fashioned rocking motion.

If you’re looking to treat yourself or your favorite living room inhabitant, and the price tag for the PowerReclineXR is a bit high, you can always check out our Holiday Gift Guide: For the Couch Potato.
